Structure findings, evaluate options and make recommendations clearly
A formal report presents findings on a specific topic, evaluates options or problems, and makes recommendations. It uses headings, impersonal language, and a logical structure. It is not an essay — it is functional writing.
Reports use impersonal passive constructions, formal vocabulary, and avoid personal opinion markers. Headers organise the content.
Report findings must be specific. Use data, percentages, and contrasting results. Organise under clear subheadings.
When evaluating, use balanced language: strengths, weaknesses, and conditions. Avoid absolute judgements.
Recommendations use conditional and subjunctive. The conclusion is brief — it does not introduce new information.
