About the KET

What is the KET?

The Cambridge A2 Key (formerly KET) is an English exam at the A2 level. It proves you can use basic English for everyday situations — shopping, travel, simple conversations.

Exam structure

• Reading and Writing — 60 minutes · 7 parts · 32 questions (50% of total)
• Listening — 30 minutes · 5 parts · 25 questions (25%)
• Speaking — 8-10 minutes · 2 parts · paired with another candidate (25%)

Scoring

The KET uses the Cambridge English Scale from 100-150. A score of 120+ is a pass at A2 level; 133+ earns a distinction and corresponds to B1.
