When do we use it?

Use — completed actions in the past

Example — I walked to school yesterday.

Time words — yesterday, last week, in 2020, ago

Forming regular past

Rule — verb + -ed

walk — walked

play — played

Spelling — stop→stopped · study→studied · like→liked

Negative form

Rule — didn’t + base verb

All subjects — I / She / They didn’t walk.

Warning — NOT ‘she didn’t walked’ — use base verb!

Questions

Rule — Did + subject + base verb?

Example — Did you walk to school?

Short answers — Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t.

Positive — walked · played · liked
